Health Care Costs: How Does Your Plan Compare?

We are all concerned about the high cost of health insurance.

The average cost of family health insurance coverage for private sector employees in Florida is $15,032, according to 2010 data provided by the National Conference of State Legislatures, a bipartisan organization serving the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states.

But here’s something you may not know.

The average worker pays only $4,685 (or 31%) of that total amount.

The remaining amount of $10,347 (or 69%) is paid by the employer.

As consumers are undoubtedly aware, the cost of coverage is rapidly rising.  The cost of identical family coverage in 2008 was only $12,697, marking an increase of over 18% over a two-year period.
