The numbers say “yes.”
In fact, investing in higher education can get you better returns than buying stocks or bonds.
Researchers at the New York Federal Reserve Bank found that an investment in a college education generated a return of about 15% per year throughout the graduate’s career, “far surpassing” the return on typical investments like stocks or bonds.
“A New York Federal Reserve study released (June 24) found that both associate and four-year degrees remain solid investments, even as the cost of going to school rapidly escalates and real wages decline for graduates.”
The study confirmed that those with a two- or four-year college degree greatly outearned young adults with only a high school diploma.
