Warm congratulations to our Boca team member Scott Weigel on earning his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the right to use the CFP® marks!
Scott recently passed the rigorous CFP® Certification Examination and met other requirements needed to earn the certification. We’re thrilled to recognize this significant achievement and Scott’s hard work!
What’s involved in becoming a CFP® professional
Over 2,500 test takers across the country registered for the CFP® Certification Examination last month.
This exam is the culmination of the CFP® study program, which normally takes one to two years to complete. Candidates need to pass the exam and also fulfill the education, ethics and experience components – including at least 6,000 hours of professional experience related to financial planning or 4,000 hours of apprenticeship experience – to become newly minted CFPs.®
Only 62% of the test takers passed the exam. The exam tests knowledge of several required study areas, such as:
- Professional Conduct and Regulation
- General Principles of Financial Planning
- Education Planning
- Risk Management and Insurance Planning
- Investment Planning
- Tax Planning
- Retirement Savings and Income Planning
- Estate Planning
- Financial plan development (capstone) course
