Who says big banks can’t be friendly?
Kiplinger Personal Finance magazine just announced its top picks for “best large bank” and two of the winners offer deals that might just make you smile.
Competing in the “large bank” category are financial institutions that blanket multiple states with branches and offer the broadest array of products and services.
Drum roll, please!
This year’s 1st place winners in the large bank category – in a tie – were Canadian-owned TD Bank and Minnesota-based U.S. Bank.
“TD Bank, whose network of U.S. branches extends down the East Coast, emphasizes convenience and customer service,” says Kiplinger. (Local residents know that TD Bank has a solid presence in the South Florida area.)
Its 1,300 branches are open more hours per week — including Saturdays, Sundays and some holidays at many locations — than any other national bank surveyed, reports Kiplinger.
TD also wins points for its low minimum balance accounts. A minimum deposit of $100 will let you avoid monthly fees in its basic checking account.
Not to be outdone, at U.S. Bank “current and former members of the military can use any of the bank’s checking accounts with no monthly fee, and the bank also offers free accounts for students and seniors,” says Kiplinger.
