Many of South Florida’s banks received top four- and five-star “recommended” ratings from Coral Gables-based Bauer Financial, an independent financial research and analytics firm that ranks institutions quarterly on their financial stability.
Receiving top rankings were BankUnited, Banco do Brasil, BB&T, Fifth Third Bank, Florida Community Bank, Mercantil CommerceBank, Paradise Bank and Seacoast, among several others (for a more detailed list, click here).
Bauer also released the names of banks it considers “troubled and problematic,” according to Nina Lincoff, reporting for the South Florida Business Journal. Troubled banks make up about 11% of the banking population in South Florida, says Bauer.
