We already know it, but here’s a good reminder.
Florida is among the “most tax friendly” states for retirees, according to the August 2014 Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.
The Sunshine State is #4 on the scale, to be exact (only Alaska, Wyoming and Nevada ranked higher).
Says Kiplinger:
“Florida is one of the most tax-friendly states in the country for retirees. There is no state income tax, and permanent residents are eligible for a homestead exemption of up to $50,000. Seniors may qualify for an additional exemption.”
In the same edition, Kiplinger highlighted University of Florida hometown Gainesville as one of the ten-best college towns for retirees looking for an active intellectual scene, a busy cultural life and plenty of team spirit.
