Every day, clients call to ask us about some new financial product they were pitched in an email newsletter, or we open our own mail at home to read about some new and “exclusive” investment seminar, or yet another fabulous “can’t lose” opportunity.
I’ve been doing this for a long time, so when I get these pitches, I usually laugh and throw them in the trash.
But consumers with less financial experience can’t always tell what’s real and what’s fake. And we’ve heard far too many stories about consumers who waste their money on scams pitched by unscrupulous investment salesmen.
So periodicially, we’ll share with you – in our very own Financial Hall of Shame – some of these “bad deals” so you can keep yourself out of financial trouble and develop a better sixth sense for what’s real – and what’s bogus – in the investment world.
P.S. Got any bad experiences or deals that belong in our Financial Hall of Shame? Write and let us know!
