If you haven’t seen it yet, take a moment to peruse Kimberly Lankford’s recent article for AARP on “Why You Should Have a Roth IRA During Turbulent Times.”
Kim interviewed Mari Adam last week about how a Roth IRA is one of the most versatile and valuable savings accounts around. And despite the market turbulence, there is no better time to fund a Roth IRA.
In the interview, Mari discussed how the Roth IRA is a “use it or lose it” opportunity to boost your lifetime tax-free savings. “Once you put money in that account, it will never be taxed again, for you or your heirs. That’s an amazing opportunity rarely available in the investment world,” said Mari.
A Roth can also do double-duty as an emergency fund, since Roth contributions can always be withdrawn without taxes or penalty.
Not everyone is eligible to fund a Roth, so give us a call to review your situation. And don’t forget that kids and grandkids, both minors and adults, are prime candidates for a Roth.
“One of the smartest steps you can take as a parent is to encourage your child to set up a Roth IRA account, with you as the custodian, and start contributing each year,” commented Mari in the AARP interview.
