“If you must watch CNBC or other financial television, watch it with the sound turned off.”
Jason Zweig, “The Best Investment for This Coming Crazy Year,” The Wall Street Journal, January 7, 2022
What’s the secret to successful investing?
Financial columnist Jason Zweig says what’s needed to invest successfully in 2022 is the discipline to stay on track, and on target, and ignore all the crazy get-rich-quick stocks and can’t-lose trends.
The biggest danger to investors in 2022, says Zweig, is investors themselves.
Don’t believe all the market hype that’s out there. Predictions that may seem obvious, like the Federal Reserve raising interest rates, may not actually happen as expected. And stocks that seem like “sure things” may not be so sure after all.
So when it comes to following the “expert” investment advice you get online, on TikTok, or on television, follow the well-worn adage. Believe only half of what you see, and none of what you hear.
A good dose of financial discipline – and not listening to the crowds – will help keep you and your portfolio safer in 2022.
