Seems Kiplinger interviewed Burkey back in 2006 to talk about the investment strategy he used in his own retirement portfolio, and checked back in with him this month for a quick update.
Burkey teaches economics at Boca’s Spanish River High School – the neighborhood school where my son attended – and has also made quite a name for himself offering a popular class on personal finance.
Burkey believes personal finance skills are essential for students and teachers alike, and has been trying to convince Florida educators to make personal finance a high school requirement.
“Managing money and investing wisely are critical survival skills for teachers as well as rising generations of students,” Burley told reporter Jeffrey R. Kosnett during his Kiplinger’s interview.
We applaud Burkey’s dedication in teaching personal finance skills! It’s the best way to ensure that high school and college students make good financial decisions as they enter the professional world.
