More people are moving to New Mexico in retirement than anywhere else.
In fact, 43% of all people relocating in retirement are headed toward the Land of Enchantment, found a recent survey.
Florida comes in as the 2nd top destination, capturing 39% of all retirees looking to relocate.
What are these retirees looking for?
They’re in search of a mild climate, a lower cost of living, and the great outdoors.
Where are they moving from?

The Takeaway: Many of our clients are interested in relocating once they are retired. Some are looking to be closer to the kids and grandkids. Others are looking for a slower pace of life and a less congested setting.
If you’re thinking of relocating, do your homework first. Spend time in the new community to make sure you like it. Consider renting a house for a few weeks or longer to get a good feel for what living there would be like, and don’t forget to talk to your financial and tax advisors about tax and other ramifications.
